A shocking and disturbing incident at an independent wrestling event in California has put Raja Jackson, the son of MMA legend Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, at the center of a widespread controversy. In a video that went viral on social media, Jackson appeared to brutally assault a professional wrestler, an attack that his father has since called “a work that went wrong.”

The Incident: A Staged Fight Turns Real

The event, which was streamed live on Kick, featured Raja Jackson entering the ring at a Knokx Pro Wrestling show. What was initially intended to be a staged wrestling segment, known as a “work,” quickly escalated. Jackson can be seen slamming independent wrestler Stuart Smith (aka Syko Stu) onto the mat, a move that reportedly knocked him out cold. The situation then took a terrifying turn as Jackson mounted the unconscious wrestler and delivered more than 20 unanswered punches to his head before he was pulled away by other wrestlers.

The horrifying scene drew immediate condemnation from the combat sports community. Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer called it “the worst thing I’ve ever seen in a ring,” and Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that while the initial slam was planned, the subsequent punches were not. Stuart Smith was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Aftermath and Rampage Jackson’s Response

In the wake of the intense backlash, Raja Jackson‘s father, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, released a statement on social media to “clear up the misinformation.” He confirmed that the wrestler, Stuart Smith, was “awake and stable,” an update that provided some relief to a worried public.

The MMA legend explained that the incident stemmed from an earlier, unplanned exchange where Smith reportedly hit Raja Jackson in the side of the head. According to the elder Jackson, his son was told he could get his “payback” in the ring, a moment that was supposed to be part of the show.

However, Quinton Jackson was quick to condemn his son’s actions, stating, “I don’t condone my son’s actions AT ALL!” He revealed that Raja Jackson had recently suffered a concussion from sparring and “had no business involved in an event like this.” The UFC legend apologized on his son’s behalf and expressed his deep concern for both his son’s health and the well-being of Mr. Smith.

The Fallout for Raja Jackson

The violent incident has had immediate consequences. The live-streaming platform Kick has reportedly banned Raja Jackson from its platform. While Jackson, 25, has a background as an MMA fighter with a professional record of 1-1, his actions in the wrestling ring have cast a dark shadow over his career.

The incident highlights the critical difference between scripted entertainment and legitimate fighting and serves as a somber reminder of the dangers that can arise when those lines are blurred. The focus now remains on the recovery of Stuart Smith and the consequences that Raja Jackson will face for his role in the disturbing event.
