Emmy 2025: ‘Adolescence,’ ‘The Studio,’ and ‘The Pitt’ Dominate the Night
Television’s biggest night lived up to the hype as the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards delivered a series of record-breaking wins, historic firsts, and a few major upsets. Held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the emmy 2025 ceremony celebrated a year of incredible storytelling and unforgettable performances, with three shows leading the way.
Netflix’s breakout limited series, Adolescence, was a major winner, taking home a total of eight awards. Its star, 15-year-old Owen Cooper, made history as the youngest male winner ever in any acting category. The night also saw Apple TV+’s The Studio set a new record for comedy wins, while HBO Max’s The Pitt secured the top drama prize.
A Night of Record-Breaking Triumphs
Adolescence, the poignant limited series, was the talk of the night, securing eight wins. In a stunning victory, 15-year-old Owen Cooper took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series, making him the youngest male Emmy winner ever. The show also dominated with wins for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, writing, directing, and a Lead Actor win for its co-creator, Stephen Graham.
Apple TV+’s The Studio cemented its place in television history. After already winning nine awards at the Creative Arts Emmys, it added four more, including Outstanding Comedy Series, to bring its total to 13. This impressive haul sets a new record for the most Emmy wins for a comedy series in a single season. Its star, Seth Rogen, was a big winner himself, taking home the awards for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, as well as Writing and Directing.
Meanwhile, HBO Max’s medical drama The Pitt took home five awards, including the top honor of the night, Outstanding Drama Series.
Making History at the Emmy 2025
The emmy 2025 ceremony was especially significant for its groundbreaking wins. Beyond Owen Cooper’s historic victory, Severance star Tramell Tillman became the first Black actor to win the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, a long-overdue and celebrated milestone.
Jean Smart also continued to make history, winning her fourth Emmy for her role in Hacks, extending her record as the oldest winner in the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category.

A Night of Laughs and Generosity
The ceremony, hosted by stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze, also had a unique twist. In a clever effort to keep speeches brief, Bargatze announced a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of America. He promised to add $1,000 for every second a speech was under the 45-second mark and deduct $1,000 for every second it went over.
Despite the creative incentive, the emotional speeches couldn’t be contained. In the end, Bargatze and CBS stepped in to make a combined donation of $250,000 to the charity, proving that even a long night of awards can lead to a generous outcome.
